Northern State Governor: Efforts Underway to Extract Additional Minerals

Governor of Northern State, Abdeen Awadallah, revealed his administration’s efforts, in coordination with the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, to extract other minerals buried beneath the state’s soil.
Speaking at the launch of 22 community responsibility projects by the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company in Al-Dabbah locality (part of a target of 49 projects for the state), the governor commended the company’s efforts in implementing community development initiatives across various localities.
He expressed satisfaction with the achievements, stating, “This is a living example we present, through the Mineral Resources Company, to the leaders of the Sovereignty and Ministers’ Councils.” He described the projects as a practical and field-based report on community responsibility efforts for 2024.
The event was attended by prominent officials, including the governor, the general director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Tahir Omer, executive director of Al-Dabbah locality Mohamed Saber Kashkash, the director of the company’s Northern State office Abdul Rahman Mahjoub Al-Nadeef, the federal Minister of Irrigation, and representatives from intelligence and other key entities.
The ceremony featured inaugurations of several projects, including a mineral resources primary and middle school complex in Qushabi village, a unified water testing laboratory for the state, and a new intensive care unit building with equipment at Al-Dabbah Hospital.
In his speech, General Director Mohamed Tahir Omer lauded the region’s rich heritage and its role as Sudan’s gateway. He praised the resilience of the armed forces and other security bodies in maintaining stability and achieving victories in the “Battle of Dignity” to defend the nation’s sovereignty.
He also highlighted plans for 49 projects in the state as part of the current year’s strategy, emphasizing the company’s role in bolstering the economy through mining. Omer pledged further developmental projects and stressed the importance of fulfilling the community’s demands. He applauded the solidarity between the Sudanese people and the armed forces, particularly in the victory achieved at Merowe Airport on April 13, hinting at a potential victory celebration in the Northern State.
