Preventing Prosecutor Willis from Prosecuting Trump in Georgia Election Interference Case
A Georgia appeals court ruled on Thursday to prevent Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from prosecuting U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and several of his allies for their alleged attempts to interfere in Georgia’s 2020 election results.
According to the Associated Press, the ruling casts doubt on the future of the case involving Trump and 14 of his associates. The appeals court found that Willis’ romantic relationship with a former deputy created an “ongoing appearance of impropriety.”
The case was already expected to be paused, at least temporarily, when Trump assumes the presidency next month. Trump has called for the case to be dismissed entirely.
