Promises of Japanese Companies Returning to Sudan

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, confirmed that the war in Sudan is nearing its end, and security and peace will return to the country.
During a meeting on Wednesday with Mr. Ogushi Masaki, Japan’s Deputy Minister for Economy, Trade, and Industry, on the sidelines of the Japan-Africa Economic Forum held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Dr. Jibril called on the Japanese government and companies to seize investment opportunities in Sudan, particularly in the reconstruction phase. He emphasized the importance of resuming the operations of the Japanese embassy in Sudan and reopening the JICA office in Port Sudan.
The minister praised Japan’s support and grants for various projects carried out by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in fields such as agriculture, water, and environmental restoration. He expressed his commitment to developing bilateral relations between Sudan and Japan, especially in economic cooperation, and highlighted Sudan’s promising resources in agriculture, livestock, minerals, natural gas, ports, tourism, and the fisheries sector.
The Japanese minister underscored the importance of enhancing relations with Sudan and stressed the necessity of ending the war and restoring peace in the country to utilize the promising opportunities Sudan offers. He promised the return of Japanese companies to Sudan to contribute to the reconstruction efforts. Both Sudan and Japan agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various economic, commercial, and investment fields.
