Motta: I Hope to See Something Positive Against Monza
Juventus has dropped to sixth place in Serie A after four consecutive draws. Coach Thiago Motta hopes to return to winning ways when they host 19th-placed Monza on Sunday, but injury problems continue to plague the team.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Motta said that defender Andrea Cambiaso, who suffered an ankle injury earlier this month, is being evaluated for a possible return. However, midfielder Douglas Luiz, who has faced multiple injuries since October, may not be ready yet.
Motta stated: “We’ll assess Cambiaso today. On the other hand, I may include Douglas Luiz, but since I want everyone to be 100% fit, I prefer to postpone his return to the lineup.”
Juventus will also be without Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal, Arkadiusz Milik, Jonas Ruggé, and Timothy Weah due to injuries.
Motta added: “I always hope to see something positive, whether in our development or in everything we do. Against Monza, we’ll face a strong team with a good coach. As always, we must aim to deliver a great performance.”
While Monza has not won in their last eight league matches, they drew with Torino in November and narrowly lost to Udinese 2-1 earlier this month.
Motta concluded: “If we face a cohesive Monza side, we must attack effectively.”
