The Russian ambassador to the United Nations confirmed that his country will continue to firmly support Sudan’s sovereignty.
In a Security Council session, the Russian ambassador stated that Russia will work to prevent any unilateral solutions from being imposed on Sudan, stressing the importance of involving all Sudanese parties in a comprehensive national dialogue.
The Russian ambassador strongly rejected Western accusations of attempting to exploit the Sudanese crisis for political gains, emphasizing that Russia’s position aims to support Sudan’s stability and unity.
The Russian ambassador praised the Sudanese Sovereign Council, considering it the only legitimate body authorized to make decisions in the country.
He pointed out that the United States had finally recognized the importance of engaging with the Sovereign Council and had sent a special envoy to Sudan.
The Russian ambassador criticized the U.S. envoy’s focus on humanitarian issues and human rights, instead of focusing on dialogue with the Sudanese parties to find a political solution to the crisis.
He confirmed that Russia will continue to block any Western attempts to impose sanctions or restrictions on Sudan.
