Shendi Traders Required to Accept 500 and 1000 Pound Notes Until Monday
Shendi – Rehab Abdullah
The Currency Replacement Committee in Shendi locality has required traders to accept 500 and 1000-pound notes until the end of the period specified by the Central Bank of Sudan, which is December 23rd.
The head of the committee, Mustafa, told Al-Ahdath that the economic committee in Shendi confirmed to traders during their tour on Thursday that anyone refusing to accept these notes would be subject to legal accountability.
He mentioned that the committee’s directive was well-received by the traders, though they complained about the process of currency delivery at the banks. As a result, the committee coordinated with bank management to ease the currency deposit process.
