Sudan Becomes Top Importer of Confectionery from Egypt

Sudan ranked as the largest importer of dry confectionery from Egypt last year, capturing a 22% market share with imports valued at $10 million.

According to the latest study by the Egyptian Export Council for Food Industries, Egypt ranked 40th globally in the export of sugar-based confectionery (excluding cocoa products), accounting for only 0.4% of global exports. Total exports amounted to $65.3 million, divided into $45 million for dry confectionery and $20 million for halva (sesame-based confectionery).

Saudi Arabia followed Sudan with a 19% share and exports valued at $9 million, while Libya came third with a 10% share worth $4 million. Jordan secured a 9% share with exports also valued at $4 million, followed by Morocco, which accounted for 8% of exports worth $3 million.
