Sudan Events – Reports
Several bank managers have revealed that deposit and account-opening activities are proceeding smoothly, with increasing public participation.
Abubakr Awad Ahmed “Kambalawi,” the manager of the Nilein Bank branch in Shendi, River Nile State, stated via the “Official Spokesperson Platform for the Sudanese Government” that financial transactions, including deposits and the opening of accounts to support electronic payments, are progressing well. He noted that since the beginning of the currency exchange on December 10 until December 23, 485 new bank accounts have been opened.
He further disclosed a rising number of counterfeit notes, particularly the 1,000-pound denomination, being detected compared to earlier days of the exchange process. These counterfeit notes are handled by perforating them, collecting them from the customers, and then delivering them to the Central Bank.
