Revealing the Emergence of a Parallel Market for Gedaref Crop Exchange
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The quality and procurement expert in the Gedaref crops market, Abkar Issa, revealed the emergence of a parallel market for crops.
Abkar told (Al-Ahdath) that traders in the parallel market come to the crops market to agree with the brokers at a price higher than the stock exchange rate, which has led most brokers to turn to the parallel market.
He disclosed that small amounts are being paid within the stock exchange auction, which leads to the rejection of the crops.
Abkar warned brokers against dealing in the parallel market as it is shrouded in ambiguity and manipulation. He confirmed that the parallel market causes the state to lose revenue since there is no entity collecting fees.
