Sudan Nears Self-Sufficiency in Locally Produced Flour

Sudan Events – Reports
The acting Minister of Industry, Mohasen Ali Yaqoub, confirmed that the country is nearing self-sufficiency in locally produced flour.
The minister checked the Rotana Flour Mill, which will begin production in the second half of January with a production capacity of 1,000 tons per day and a storage capacity of 120,000 tons for silos.
The minister praised the management of Rotana Mills and their investment in the flour industry and related industries, emphasizing that this is important after the shutdown of mills in war-affected states, particularly Khartoum and Al-Jazeera, creating a gap in flour availability.
She added that the entry of Rotana Mills into production will significantly contribute to filling the gap, calling for investment in the flour industry sector to cover local demand and prepare for export, thanks to the state’s encouraging policies on import substitution and maximizing exports.
She also mentioned that the country is expecting promising wheat production this year due to the state’s plan to increase cultivated areas and use modern technologies, which will help reduce wheat imports.
