Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef Al-Sharif affirmed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s initiative to mediate between Sudan and the UAE “will have a positive impact” on the country.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Al-Sharif said, “During this war, we found understanding from the Turkish leadership regarding the situation in Sudan, and the war-related issues were discussed in great detail.”
He added that “Turkey, under the leadership of President Erdogan, has taken a noble and great stance alongside the Sudanese people and state. Turkey has been clear in all its positions, supporting Sudanese sovereignty and safeguarding its resources.”
He further remarked, “The most recent initiative by President Erdogan is the mediation between Sudan and the UAE, which will have a positive impact on Sudan’s government, people, and leadership.”
Al-Sharif confirmed Sudan’s openness to any efforts aimed at ending the war, achieving lasting peace, stabilizing the country, and salvaging what can be saved.
He stressed, “However, there are two essential conditions for peace. First, all militias must dissolve, leaving Sudan with one unified army. Second, leaders of the Rapid Support Forces and their allies must have no political role during the peace process.”
