Sudan’s Central Bank Urges Citizens to Combat Usurious Practices

Abdelrahman Mohamed Abdelrahman, the Chairman of the Operations and Monitoring Committee for Currency Replacement at the Central Bank of Sudan, affirmed the bank’s commitment to injecting more funds into banks to meet customer withdrawals. He also urged banks to adhere to the withdrawal limits outlined in the Central Bank’s directive.
In a press statement on Saturday, Abdelrahman called on citizens to combat usurious and harmful practices in society. He emphasized the readiness of all banks to receive customer deposits and provide services while safeguarding their funds.
He encouraged citizens to take advantage of the extended period for currency replacement, noting that the last day for this process would be Monday, December 30th. He also warned that any 1,000 SDG and 500 SDG notes would cease to be legally tender after this date.
