Governor of the Gezira Scheme: Over 520,000 Feddans Planted During the Summer Season

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Ibrahim Mustafa, confirmed that the aim of the militias entering the Gezira Scheme was to cause famine. He affirmed that all warehouses, agricultural machinery, and vehicles were looted. However, he stressed that they had absorbed the shock through abundant production, as more than 520,000 feddans were planted during the summer season, including 320,000 feddans of maize.
Mustafa described the talk of famine in Sudan as “false,” confirming that there was abundant production in all the markets for crops in Gedaref, White Nile, and the Nuhud area. He added, “The talk of famine is a politically orchestrated act from certain countries, and we will definitely confront these baseless claims.”
