Minister of Communications Reviews Currency Replacement Process at the Central Bank of Sudan
Sudan Events – Reports
On Sunday, the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Adel Hassan Mohamed Hussein, visited the Central Bank of Sudan to review the progress of the currency replacement process.
The minister received a detailed briefing from the governor and the Central Bank team regarding the currency replacement process and the efforts of the Central Bank of Sudan in the field of electronic payment systems.
The Minister also examined the preparations made by the Central Bank in collaboration with commercial banks to launch the electronic payment process, including the technical arrangements made in this regard and efforts to encourage banks and telecommunications companies to complete electronic payment transactions. This contributes to saving large amounts of foreign currency used for printing paper money.
The Minister emphasized that electronic payments reduce the use of paper money and minimize its storage at home, a practice that many countries worldwide have adopted for their financial transactions. He praised the tireless efforts of the Central Bank employees who work around the clock to receive and process returned currency from banks and handle it within the new currency limits.
