“Brisbane Tournament”: Ons Jabeur Advances to the Second Round
The Tunisian star, Ons Jabeur, qualified for the second round of the women’s competition in the Brisbane Tennis Tournament, held on hard courts in Australia.
Ons advanced to the Round of 32 after defeating China’s Zheng Saisai with a score of 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in the first round on Monday.
In the next round, the Tunisian star will face Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 28th globally, who advanced without playing in the first round.
In other first-round matches, Romania’s Anca Todoni defeated Spain’s Cristina Bucșa, Russia’s Polina Kudermetova won against China’s Wang Xinyu, and Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina beat another Chinese player, Wang Yafan.
Additionally, the USA’s Peyton Stearns defeated Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova, China’s Yue Yuan overcame the Netherlands’ Arantxa Rus, and Australia’s Kimberly Birrell triumphed over fellow Australian Priscilla Hon.
Russia’s Anastasia Potapova also advanced after her Romanian opponent Ana Bogdan withdrew.
