NBA: New Fine for Edwards… $100,000
The NBA fined Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards $100,000 for using offensive language during a live television interview.
Edwards uttered profanities in excitement during the interview after scoring the game-winning three-pointer in a last-second victory against the Houston Rockets, 113-112, on Friday.
In announcing the fine, Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President of the NBA, noted Edwards’ “history of using inappropriate language during media interactions.”
Less than a week ago, Edwards was fined $75,000 for publicly criticizing officiating and using offensive language following Minnesota’s 103-113 home loss to the Golden State Warriors.
In November, Edwards was fined $35,000 for making an inappropriate gesture toward the stands during a win over the Sacramento Kings.
The 23-year-old contributed to the U.S. national team’s gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics.
