Postecoglou: Tottenham Still in the “Difficult Phase”

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou remains confident in his team’s capabilities despite continued struggles in the Premier League, as they dropped points again on Sunday.
Tottenham drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers after conceding a late goal, while also losing Destiny Udogie to injury, adding to an already long list of absentees.
The London side will be missing 10 players when they face Newcastle United next Sunday, with Rodrigo Bentancur suspended due to yellow card accumulation after receiving a booking in the previous match.
Speaking to British media outlet PA, Postecoglou said: “We’re still in a difficult phase, but I trust that when we have a full squad again at some point, we’ll be able to deliver consistently high-level performances.”
He continued: “This season, we’ve shown that we can beat any team, and we still have an opportunity to get back on track, but that’s not where our focus is right now.”
The Australian manager added: “I can clearly see the effort my players are putting in. If we had been at our best, we would’ve scored a third or even a fourth goal to secure the win.”
Postecoglou also highlighted the importance of giving his players a mental and physical break: “We’ve planned to give the players two days off to recover mentally and physically, especially as, for the first time in a while, we don’t have two matches in a week.”
He concluded: “We’ve played a lot of games in the past four or five weeks, which has been exhausting for the players. It will be good to allow them some time to reset.”
