8 Dead, 15 Injured in Northern China Market Fire

China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Saturday that a fire broke out at a vegetable market in the northern province of Hebei, killing eight people and injuring 15 others.
CCTV added that authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which occurred in Zhangjiakou and was extinguished within an hour after it started at around 8:40 a.m.
Videos shared by other media outlets on the Chinese platform Weibo showed massive plumes of black smoke and large flames above the market in the Qiaoxi district of the city, according to Reuters.
The corporate data website Qichacha identified the market as Liguang Vegetable Market, which opened in 2011 and sells goods ranging from fruits and seafood to electronics.
