Bahrain Wins the Gulf Cup for the Second Time in Its History
Bahrain claimed the title of the 26th Gulf Cup for the second time in its history, overturning Oman 2-1 in the final on Saturday at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait.
Bahrain owes its victory to Mohamed Marhoon, who earned and successfully converted a penalty in the 79th minute, equalizing after Oman had taken the lead through Abdulrahman Al-Mushaifri in the 17th minute. Just a minute later, a brilliant individual effort from a Kuwaiti club player resulted in a shot that was deflected by Omani defender Mohamed Al-Musallami into his own net in the 80th minute.
