Russia Foils Bomb Attack, Arrests Four Teenagers

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Saturday that it had thwarted a major attack in Yekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains and detained four teenagers who were allegedly planning to detonate a bomb in a crowded area.
The FSB stated that it had confiscated components of a homemade explosive device and that investigators in the Sverdlovsk region had opened a criminal case.
The four detained teenagers, born in 2007 and 2008, were identified as Russian citizens, but their names were not disclosed.
Russian authorities stated that the detainees had been influenced by the ideology of a banned terrorist organization in Russia and were planning an attack using a homemade explosive device in areas frequented by residents of Yekaterinburg.
Two of the suspects were also implicated in an arson attack on a Ministry of Internal Affairs vehicle. The Interfax news agency reported that the arson incident occurred on December 22, 2024.
