Partey: We Must Forget the Frustrating Draw Against Brighton

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey urged his team to quickly forget the frustrating 1-1 draw against Brighton on Saturday in the Premier League and focus on the first leg of the English League Cup semifinal against Newcastle on Tuesday.
According to the British news agency PA Media, Arsenal’s title hopes suffered a blow after the draw at Amex Stadium. Joao Pedro’s penalty equalized after Ethan Nwaneri had given Arsenal the lead in the first half.
Partey admitted that the result deeply disappointed the Arsenal squad, ending their three-match winning streak in the league and preventing them from closing the gap on league leaders Liverpool.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Partey said, “We’re all sad and angry; everyone is frustrated. But this is part of football.”
He added, “We wanted to win and continue our streak, but we didn’t achieve that in the end.”
The Ghanaian midfielder continued, “It’s also positive that we didn’t lose. We must give our best to win these games because they’re the most important matches. It wasn’t an easy game against Brighton; they’re a strong side, and winning here is tough. To do so, you have to be at your best.”
Partey concluded, “We must forget what happened in yesterday’s game and keep working to win the next one.”
Arsenal currently sits second in the Premier League table with 40 points, five points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand and face Manchester United on Sunday in the 20th round.
