Intensive Efforts to Collect Violating Weights in the Northern State

Abdul-Azim Ismail Mousa, the director of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority in the Northern State, revealed intensive efforts to prevent the use of the “ratal” and its derivatives in commercial transactions, and to adopt the international (metric) system as the official standard for weight. In this context, Al-Nadhir Fadl Faqir, the head of the Measurement and Calibration Department, stated that the campaigns will continue to cover all markets and localities in the state, in addition to retail shops and neighborhoods. Industrial and service inspection campaigns will also continue to withdraw the “ratal” and its derivatives from the market to ensure compliance with the metric system. The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority has urged all consumers and traders to adhere to the approved weights.
