Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Governor of the Gezira Project, Ibrahim Mustafa Ali, began his field tour in Al-Managil divisions with visits to the Al-Shawal and Al-Jamousi divisions.
During the visit, the governor inspected the damage to the Al-Shawal major canal, where repair work on its embankments has already started. He took direct responsibility for cleaning the Al-Shawal drain and major canal from now on.
He also examined the water pumps at the Wagia Allah station, which face issues due to a lack of fuel. He instructed the irrigation department to conduct a study to operate these pumps using solar energy and secure the necessary funding to resolve the problem permanently. The governor also promised to address the challenges facing the Al-Waha pumps.
The tour concluded with several decisions, including deploying more excavation equipment to Al-Shawal’s major canal, increasing water flow levels, removing unauthorized Abu Ashreen pipes, regulating the crop rotation cycle, and controlling brick kilns on Al-Shawal’s embankments.
In Al-Jamousi division, the governor reviewed several irrigation channels suffering from siltation and overgrowth. He urged the irrigation department to dispatch excavation equipment to clear them.
The governor addressed volunteers stationed along the Al-Shawal major canal, affirming that the signs of victory against the militias are visible, with their defeat imminent in the ongoing battle for dignity.
