High Productivity for the Comprehensive Partnerships Strengthening Project for Small Farmers
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Director of the Coast Sudan Organization in Sudan, Az-Zadin Hashim Mohamed, confirmed that the Comprehensive Partnerships Strengthening Project for Small Farmers in traditional rain-fed farming areas, under the umbrella of the Coast Sudan Organization and supported by the Dutch Embassy, has achieved a significant leap in productivity in some areas targeted by the project in the rain-fed farming regions of the Rabak locality.
The Director of Coast Sudan stated that the average productivity per feddan for maize reached 6 sacks and 4 quintals per feddan of sesame in some areas. He also mentioned that the project provided maize and sesame seeds, along with cash support to 1,252 farmers. The organization operates in seven states in Sudan, including the White Nile State. One of the organization’s primary goals is poverty alleviation through activities focusing on natural resource management, building the capacities of rural communities to be more adaptable and resilient to events and disasters, as well as building peace, ensuring food security, and enhancing the capabilities of grassroots organizations and government partners.
The Director of Programs at Coast Sudan explained that the organization is a national one that succeeded the British Coast Organization after it left Sudan. He added that Coast Sudan works in partnership with government institutions, beneficiary communities, and other organizations. The organization focuses on four main areas: water, environmental sanitation, food security, peacebuilding, and building partner capacities. He emphasized that the organization has a vision and mission centered around achieving peace and well-being by working with both women and men in rural areas to fulfill their aspirations for a dignified life.
