Malian President: We Are Ready to Coordinate with Sudan to Fight Terrorist Groups

On Saturday, the head of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, held closed-door talks with the President of Mali, Assimi Goita, focusing on upgrading and developing relations between the two countries and ways to support joint cooperation.
Al-Burhan expressed his happiness about the visit to the Republic of Mali, confirming that Sudan has historical ties with Mali. He said that this visit will have a long-term impact in terms of enhancing the common interests between the two countries. He pointed out that African countries share a common destiny that requires mutual support and solidarity, praising Mali’s positions toward Sudan and stating that history will record these honorable stances in support of Sudan.
In turn, the Malian president welcomed Al-Burhan’s visit, mentioning the historical relations between Mali and Sudan and noting that he had lived in Sudan for more than 18 months. He confirmed his country’s support for Sudan in facing the targeting of its security and stability. He added, “We know that there are enemies working against the security and stability of Sudan, driven by greed for its vast resources,” referring to the presence of terrorist groups and mercenaries from several countries destabilizing the region. He confirmed Mali’s readiness to coordinate with Sudan to combat these terrorist groups.
The Malian president also noted that his government faces terrorist groups seeking to undermine the security and stability of Mali. He called for joint efforts to combat these rebellious groups, pointing to Sudan’s capabilities in the defense industry and expressing his country’s interest in exchanging experiences with Sudan in many fields.
