Supervisory Committee for Electronic Payments Discusses Its Interim Report

The Supervisory Committee of the Electronic Payments Emergency Room discussed its interim report on the status of implementing decisions to regulate electronic payment and settlement systems. The report, reviewed at a meeting chaired by Abdullah Ibrahim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, and attended by the Minister of Communications, focused on key controls and measures taken by the Ministry of Finance in electronic payments, such as implementing Cabinet decisions to disburse salaries of government employees electronically, and committing not to accept cash payments.

The committee also discussed the challenges faced by the tax and customs units, the Ministry of Interior, and ways to address these issues. It reviewed the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and commercial banks to complete the interface linkage between the electronic payment system (Easaly) and the commercial banks to ensure performance efficiency, confidentiality, and rapid exchange of information. The report emphasized the importance of public awareness about the electronic payment system (Easaly), its benefits, and building public trust in electronic systems.
