Sudanese-Chinese Agreement to Enhance Cooperation in the Mining Sector

A joint meeting took place at the headquarters of the Norinco Group in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between a high-level Sudanese delegation and officials from the Chinese company Norin Mining, on the sidelines of Sudan’s participation in the International Mining Conference held between January 14-16.
The Sudanese delegation was headed by Minister of Minerals, Mohamed Bashir Abdullah, and included the Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Taher Omar, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Minerals, Geologist Ahmed Haroun Al-Tom, the Director General of Sudamin, Mahdi Hussein, and the Executive Office Director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Dafa’ Allah Ibrahim Hamza. From the Chinese side, the meeting was attended by the Chairman of Norin Mining, Engineer Jing Yi, along with department managers from the company.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance the partnership between Sudan and China in the mining sector, focusing on removing all obstacles hindering the Chinese company’s operations in Sudan. Both sides committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the commencement of mining operations, aiming to achieve mutual benefits for both countries.
This meeting reflects Sudan’s interest in developing the mining sector, attracting foreign investments, and achieving sustainable development to strengthen the national economy.
