Plans to Establish a Thermal Power Station in Omdurman

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Director-General of the Khartoum State Water Authority, Engineer Consultant Mohamed Ali Al-Ajab, announced plans to establish a thermal power station to supply the Manara Water Station in the near future to prevent emergency power outages.

He urged the government to support the project, which could address power disruptions affecting the station. In a press statement on Saturday, Al-Ajab stated that solar energy solutions are being considered but are challenging to implement at the Manara station due to the lack of sufficient space, which is estimated at around 500 acres.

He confirmed that the authority has prepared a comprehensive technical study to operate wells using solar energy and commended the efforts of engineering and technical teams stationed at the Manara station and other locations to ensure water supply. He also called on organizations related to water supply to support the authority by providing large generators for water stations.
