Khartoum Water: 76 Wells Operational
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The General Director of the Khartoum State Water Corporation, Engineer Consultant Mohamed Ali Al-Ajab, stated that the ongoing interventions have led to the operation of 76 wells out of 124, which have been supplied with generators and fuel. Additionally, water trucks have been dispatched to supply areas without wells.
During a meeting of the state’s Emergency Committee and Crisis Management, chaired by Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza on Wednesday, he mentioned that 7 large generators had been provided for operating the station, which consumes up to 450 kW of electricity. He noted that each generator consumes 76 barrels of gasoline.
He pointed out that the station is currently operating at reduced capacity but is expected to increase to 66% once all generators are operational. He also mentioned that some generators require technical interventions, which are currently being addressed. He praised the support provided by the Head of the Sovereign Council, the state government, local authorities, and foreign and local organizations in supplying gasoline for the wells. He also commended the efforts of the corporation’s staff, the Manara Station workers, the crisis management committee, and the media.
