Army Denies Militia’s Claims of Seizing El-Fasher

Sudan Events – Reports

The Sixth Infantry Division in El-Fasher denied claims made in a video released by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Thursday, alleging their seizure of El-Fasher city.

Through its war correspondent, Asya Khalifa, the division stated that the militia released the false video on social media to cover up its failure after issuing an ultimatum earlier this week. In the ultimatum, the militia threatened the military and popular resistance forces to surrender their weapons and leave the city within 48 hours. This was part of an effort to displace residents and enable the militia to enter, loot, and destroy the city.

The Sixth Infantry Division reaffirmed the unity and resolve of the military, resistance forces, and citizens in defending the city.

It revealed that airstrikes on Wednesday and Thursday successfully destroyed 158 combat vehicles belonging to the militia—65 in Kafout (between El-Fasher and Kutum), 48 near El-Fasher, and 45 in another area. The strikes also targeted militia gatherings in North Darfur, killing 53 militia members and injuring others, who were transported to Saraf Omra.

Eyewitnesses reported that many militia members fled northwest of the city to escape airstrikes.

The division also confirmed the destruction of four large drones on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the militia launched 75 shells of various types into El-Fasher, attempting to destroy the city. The attack killed two civilians and injured four others, who were taken to the hospital.

The division stated that tribal disputes among the militia persist, with factions refusing to regroup for an attack on El-Fasher, which has become a graveyard for the militia and its leadership.

The situation in El-Fasher remains stable, with all forces united and prepared to achieve victory.
