Sudan Participates in the Arab Finance and Water Ministers Platform

Dr. Mohamed Bashar, the Planning Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, represented the Government of Sudan at the Forum on Financing Water Development in the Middle East and North Africa, which was recently held in Kuwait and organized by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in partnership with the World Bank.
During the forum, the Fund launched a business platform to finance water projects worth $10 billion, under the theme “Our Water is Our Life.”
The platform includes a collection of developmental projects in the water sector across the Arab region, offering financing and technical solutions to member countries and companies. The Fund has implemented an operational system to continuously activate the platform through the marketing and promotion of numerous water-related developmental projects across all countries.
Ministers of Finance and Water from Arab countries, members of the Arab Coordination Group, experts, decision-makers, regional and international organizations, and investors are participating in the platform.
The forum discussed financing sustainable water projects in the region, aiming to address water scarcity, support sustainability, and economic resilience in the sector, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors to support innovation and financing solutions for water scarcity challenges. It also focused on developing the necessary infrastructure and improving water resource management, contributing to achieving water security and sustainable economic development in the Middle East and North Africa.
The forum emphasized finding solutions to the challenge of providing affordable water to ensure quality of life, as well as focusing on maintenance to ensure the sustainability of water projects.
