Preparations Underway to Resume Trade and Supply Flow in Wad Madani

The Economic Emergency Committee of Al-Jazira State held a meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Atif Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Shouk, Acting Minister of Finance, Economy, and Workforce, to discuss strategies for resuming commercial activities and restoring supply chains in Wad Madani.
Abu Shouk confirmed in a press statement that the committee had approved the entry of essential consumer goods into the city in coordination with security agencies. He also stressed the importance of cleaning and rehabilitating the main market and commercial stores.
He called for cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information to document the destruction caused by rebel militias before initiating the market restoration process. He urged traders and shop owners to reopen and renovate their businesses to help revive the city’s economy.
Meanwhile, members of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry affirmed their readiness to reopen markets and resume production activities.
The meeting included representatives from security forces, Wad Madani’s local administration, and officials from petroleum, trade, and industrial sectors, alongside the Ministry of Culture and Information.
