Athletics Integrity Unit Suspends French Sprinter Wilfried Happio Temporarily

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Thursday that it has temporarily suspended French hurdler Wilfried Happio due to a failure to comply with the whereabouts rule.

Under the “whereabouts” rule set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), athletes are required to be available for one hour each day for random out-of-competition drug testing.

Failure to provide accurate whereabouts information three times within a 12-month period constitutes a violation of the rule, according to the anti-doping regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Athletes found guilty after a hearing may face a two-year suspension.

Happio, 26, won the silver medal in the 400m hurdles at the 2022 European Championships in Munich. He has also competed in two Olympic Games, reaching the semifinals in Tokyo and Paris.
