Pedri Extends Contract with Barcelona Until 2030

Barcelona announced on Thursday that they have extended the contract of midfielder Pedri for an additional four years.
Pedri, 22, who won the European Championship with the Spanish national team last summer, signed the contract extension on Thursday, which will keep him at Barcelona until June 2030, in the presence of Barcelona president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, and sporting director Deco.
Pedri joined Barcelona in 2019 before being loaned for a year to Las Palmas, where he began his youth career. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising talents in Spanish and global football from the age of 16, though his development slowed due to injuries.
The club’s statement read: “He returned to Barcelona in the summer of 2020, and it was clear from day one that he was a special player. He secured a place in the midfield at just 17 years old and remains a key player at the age of 22.”
The statement continued: “Pedri may be young, and while his future is bright, his present is simply outstanding.”
This season, Pedri has proven his skill under coach Hansi Flick, establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. Many have described him as the successor to Andrés Iniesta since his rise to prominence in football.
