Real Madrid and Vinícius Júnior in Talks Over New Contract

Real Madrid has opened negotiations with Vinícius Júnior over a new contract after the player rejected the club’s initial renewal offer.

According to The Athletic, the Brazilian international’s current terms were signed in 2022, announced in 2023, and run until 2027, with a €1 billion release clause.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move abroad during last summer’s transfer window, with reports in August 2024 suggesting that his representatives had held discussions about a potential transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

Madrid has shown willingness to renew his contract, but the player preferred to wait until the end of the season before negotiating. Representatives of Saudi clubs made fresh contact with his agent in December, reiterating their interest in signing him in the summer.

Vinícius Júnior and his representatives are seeking an improved salary to better reflect his status as one of the world’s best players. His current annual net salary stands at approximately €15 million after taxes.
