Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has been elected as the new Chairperson of the African Union Commission, succeeding the former chairperson, Moussa Faki.

Youssouf competed against candidates from Kenya and Madagascar, securing 33 votes, which ensured his victory for the position.
