Guterres: Peace is Possible in the Middle East, and It Starts with a Two-State Solution

The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, confirmed on Saturday that peace is achievable in the Middle East, emphasizing that it begins with a two-state solution.

Guterres added, in front of an African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that the Palestinian people “have suffered more than enough.”

The UN Secretary-General stressed the need to “avoid the resumption of fighting in Gaza at all costs.”

Hamas and Islamic Jihad released three Israeli hostages today who had been held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, as part of the sixth exchange operation under the truce agreement. The Israeli army announced their arrival in Israel.

The three hostages are Russian-Israeli Sasha Trubanov, American-Israeli Sagi Dekel Chen, and Argentine-Israeli Yair Horn, who were handed over in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. They were escorted to a platform surrounded by dozens of armed militants and a crowd of people chanting and clapping. They were then handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
