Protests at Seaports

Port workers and civil society in the Red Sea State organized a protest in front of the Ministries Complex in Port Sudan, denouncing the Cabinet’s decision to open the position of Director-General of the Seaports Authority for public competition while excluding other positions.
Recently, the Cabinet announced the vacancy for the Director-General of the Seaports Authority, setting strict conditions for applicants. Hundreds applied, but the competition was narrowed down to 16 candidates.
The striking port workers believe that the director position should be filled from within the port’s existing employees.
