Sudan and Mauritania Discuss Activating Joint Cooperation Agreement

The Undersecretary of Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, met with the Acting Undersecretary of Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohamed Al-Hanshi, in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.

The meeting covered various issues and areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic, agricultural, industrial, and mining sectors.

Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil expressed Sudan’s appreciation to the Mauritanian government and people for their warm hospitality in receiving Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, during his recent visit to Mauritania, followed by the visit of Sovereign Council member and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim.

The meeting also discussed the activation of the joint cooperation agreement, reactivating the work of bilateral committees, and preparations for a joint meeting.

The Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim’s visit is part of the ongoing cooperation and strong ties between the two countries. He also highlighted that Mauritania firmly supports the Sudanese government and its armed forces in their fight against the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and strongly advocates for Sudan’s return to its rightful leadership role in international and regional organizations, especially within the African Union.

For his part, the Acting Undersecretary of the Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his desire to expand avenues of joint cooperation and benefit from Sudan’s experiences.
