“Umma National” Disassociates Itself from the Militia Government

Sudan Events – Reports

The Secretary-General of the National Umma Party, Al-Wathiq Al-Bereir, affirmed that the party is not concerned with the formation of any government that contradicts its declared stance of refraining from participation in any government except through free and fair elections or national consensus.

In a statement, Al-Bereir said that the political landscape is filled with polarization and alignments over the formation of governments here and there. He emphasized that the historical and principled position of the National Umma Party is to uphold elections as the sole means of governance and to abstain from joining any government unless it is elected or a national unity government. He added, “Based on this firm stance, we reject the formation of a government by either party to the war; there is no legitimacy after the October 25 coup, nor legitimacy for the April 15 war.”
