Foreign Minister: Djibouti’s Leadership of the African Union Benefits Sudan

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Yusuf Al-Sharif expressed his country’s satisfaction with the leadership change in the African Union, describing it as a positive development.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Net, Al-Sharif said, “We are very pleased with the victory of Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. In our view, this change is highly positive and beneficial for Sudan and its return to the African Union.”

The Sudanese Foreign Minister revealed that he met with his Djiboutian counterpart in Cairo, along with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, to discuss bilateral relations and how to support Youssouf in his campaign for this important position.

He expressed hope that Youssouf’s tenure as Foreign Minister would witness Sudan’s return to the African Union’s activities.
