A former minister calls for severing ties with Kenya and expelling the ambassador

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

A former minister has urged the Sudanese government to sever its relations with Kenya upon the announcement of the “Janjaweed government” from Nairobi.

The Rapid Support Forces militia, along with its supporting parties, plans to announce a political charter and form a parallel government in Nairobi on Tuesday.

A prominent figure in the Islamic Movement and former minister during Bashir’s regime, Amin Hassan Omar, called in a post on Facebook for the expulsion of the Kenyan ambassador within 24 hours if the “Janjaweed government” is announced from Nairobi. He confirmed that Kenya’s president, Ruto, is an economic and political partner of the Janjaweed leader.

He said, “Relations with Kenya should be cut immediately, and the Kenyan ambassador should be expelled,” adding, “Do not underestimate the sovereignty of the country, and do not accept positions of humiliation.”
