Cancellation of Press Conference Between Zelensky and Trump’s Envoy

The Ukrainian presidency announced that Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy, Keith Kellogg, decided not to hold a press conference following their meeting on Thursday in Kyiv. Presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nykyforov explained that the scheduled media statements by Zelensky and the retired U.S. general, Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine and Russia, were canceled after their meeting.
Nykyforov stated: “At the request of the American side, the meeting format allows for protocol photo opportunities but does not include statements or questions.”
Three diplomatic sources told Reuters that the United States is refusing to support a United Nations resolution marking the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The resolution reaffirms Kyiv’s territorial integrity and condemns Moscow, signaling a potential shift in stance from Ukraine’s strongest Western ally.
Kellogg’s visit to Kyiv coincided with the recent dispute between Trump and Zelensky, which has strained their personal relationship and raised further doubts about the future of U.S. support for Ukraine’s war effort.
The Ukrainian president received the U.S. envoy after facing sharp criticism from Trump, sparking concerns about a potential rift between Washington and Kyiv, which heavily relies on American assistance to repel the Russian invasion.
