Sudan Events – Reports
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asserted that Kenyan President William Ruto prioritizes his personal and business interests with regional sponsors of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia over the historical relations between Sudan and Kenya, the genuine interests of his country, and the imperatives of regional peace and security. By doing so, he is disregarding international and regional treaties.
The ministry stated that the press release issued by the Kenyan Foreign Ministry was an attempt to justify President Ruto’s disgraceful stance in supporting and fostering a conspiracy to establish a government for the militia responsible for genocide and its affiliates. This, according to the ministry, constitutes a violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and national security and poses a grave threat to regional peace and stability. The statement described this as an unprecedented and dangerous development in both the region and the continent.
The ministry further emphasized that this hostile and irresponsible conduct cannot be justified by referencing the previous hosting of the Machakos negotiations, as those talks were held between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) with the government’s consent and under the auspices of IGAD and significant international sponsorship.
It also pointed out that the ongoing meetings in Nairobi involve the terrorist Janjaweed militia and its affiliates, aiming to establish a parallel government to the legitimate one. Meanwhile, the militia continues to commit crimes of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and widespread sexual violence.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry called on the Kenyan presidency to reconsider this dangerous course of action, which threatens regional peace and security, encourages terrorism and genocide, and involves grave human rights violations.
