Injury to Inter Milan’s Goalkeeper with a Thumb Fracture

Italian club Inter Milan announced on Thursday that their Swiss goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, has suffered a thumb fracture and will be sidelined for a period of time.

Sommer underwent medical tests on Thursday to assess the extent of the injury, but the club did not disclose how he sustained it.

Inter Milan said in a statement on its official website: “Yann Sommer underwent medical examinations this morning, and it was determined that he has a thumb fracture on his right hand.”

The statement continued: “The appropriate treatment will be determined in the coming days.” Sommer has played 35 matches across all competitions for Inter this season, helping the team to second place in Serie A, just two points behind leaders Napoli, in addition to reaching the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, according to the British news agency (PA Media).
