Canada Opens Its Doors to Sudanese Refugees

Sudan Events – Agencies

Canadian Minister of Immigration Marc Miller announced that Canada will reopen applications for permanent residency for Sudanese refugees on February 25. The country has added 1,750 new application slots to the 3,250 it had already received, bringing the total to 5,000 applications.

Miller’s office stated that 4,000 of these applicants will receive government assistance.

The program had previously faced criticism for the limited number of slots and the slow processing of applications.
