Slot: PSG Clash Will Be Tough

Dutch manager Arne Slot of Liverpool has acknowledged the difficulty of facing Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The draw paired Premier League leaders Liverpool against PSG, who advanced to this stage after a dominant aggregate victory of 10-0 over fellow French side Brest in the playoff round.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Slot said: “At this stage of the competition, the opponents are of the highest quality. Paris Saint-Germain has built itself into a real powerhouse with a strong reputation in European football.”

He added: “They qualified for the Round of 16 in an impressive way this week with a big win over Brest. They have also been performing well in the league, securing victories against Stuttgart, Manchester City, Girona, and Red Bull Salzburg.”

Slot continued: “Like us, PSG is leading their domestic league and is enjoying an excellent unbeaten run. That tells us everything we need to know about the challenge ahead. But it’s a challenge we are excited for, and we fully deserve to be in the Round of 16.”

He emphasized: “Of course, our immediate focus is on our upcoming Premier League matches, starting with Manchester City on Sunday. However, we will do everything to ensure we are at our best before the Champions League resumes.”

The first leg will take place in Paris on March 4, with the return fixture set for Liverpool on March 11.
