Kane Could Miss Frankfurt Clash

Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich’s head coach, stated on Saturday that Harry Kane, the Bundesliga’s top scorer, might miss his team’s home match against third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday due to an incomplete recovery from a calf muscle injury.

The England captain, who has scored 21 league goals this season, sustained the injury during Bayern’s second-leg clash against Celtic in the Champions League playoffs last Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Kompany said: “This is not the first time this season we’ve had to deal with such an issue. There is no direct replacement for Harry because there aren’t many players who can score 40 or 50 goals in a season.”

The former Burnley manager added: “We will try to find the best solution tomorrow to secure the win. If he is unavailable, we will manage with the squad we have. We still have one training session left.”

Kane is not expected to be sidelined for more than a few days, and Kompany is confident his striker will return for the team’s next match.

“It’s good that we’re not talking about three or four weeks out. It’s a short-term issue,” Kompany explained.

Kane’s absence comes at a difficult time for Bayern, as they have drawn their last two matches across all competitions. They are set to face Bayer Leverkusen in an all-German Champions League Round of 16 tie next month.

Bayern played out a goalless draw with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last week before drawing 1-1 with Celtic in the Champions League, advancing to the Round of 16 with a 3-2 aggregate win.

Bayern currently leads the Bundesliga by eight points ahead of second-placed Leverkusen, the defending champions.

“We will be playing Frankfurt at home. We can create special moments in this stadium with our fans, and that’s our only focus,” Kompany concluded.
