With “Strategic Means”… North Korea Plans to Respond to Washington and Seoul’s Joint Drills

North Korea has announced that it will respond with “strategic means” to what it called “strategic threats from the United States and other enemies,” referring to the joint military exercises between Seoul and Washington, which include U.S. strategic bombers.
In a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Saturday, the head of public affairs at North Korea’s Ministry of Defense said, “Military provocations by the United States and its followers have escalated since President Donald Trump took office.”
The statement pointed to the first deployment of the U.S. strategic bomber B-1B in the Korean Peninsula on Thursday, as well as the planned “Freedom Shield” joint exercises by the two allies next month, which will include field training.
The U.S. and South Korean militaries recently conducted air drills featuring at least one B-1B bomber and several fighter jets, marking the first joint air exercise between the two nations since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term.
