Pakistani Security Forces Kill 6 Militants in a Raid in the Northwest

Based on intelligence information, Pakistani security forces raided a militant hideout in a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban in the country’s northwest on Friday. A heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the killing of six militants, according to a statement from the Pakistani army.
The army’s statement, as reported by the Associated Press, said the raid took place in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. The statement added that the operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants in the area.
The military authorities did not disclose further details about the slain militants. However, such operations frequently target members of the Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The Pakistani Taliban is an ally of the Afghan Taliban and has intensified its attacks in Pakistan since the Afghan Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in 2021.
